Get Kids Crafty in January - BLOG HOP

Hi Crafters!

I have a wonderful Valentine's Day card that I made with my daughter. We made it for the #getkidscrafty blog hop.

Emalee LOVES the color purple and I share that love with her. It is almost an obsession. Whenever I come home with something from the store, of course purple, she makes me promise to share when she gets older. I always make that promise.

So naturally when we talked about making Valentine's cards, purple was a must. I also wanted to try a new MFT die that I got during the Black Friday 2017 SALE. It was the Die-Namics Flop Card - Rectangle. Emalee also gave one last request of rainbows and unicorns (both from stamp sets by Strawberry Jude Stamps). It all started coming together from there.

It was tons of fun working with her and to see her excitement. She loves using my stamping stuff. We pulled out the Misti and started working on the horse that would ultimately become a unicorn. We stamped it together (6x even though we only needed one, when I use my SNC I cut way more then needed because the girls love to color extras).

After cutting them with the SNC, we pulled out the beloved bog shot and cut grass, and the flop card parts. I grabbed our sentiments hot off the printer and die cut them out as well. We talked about blending and why less color is more sometimes. I was able to guide her hand while we blended the grass and sky colors.

At this point we pulled out the glue and put some of the parts together. All we had left was to color it. She picked out all the colors and helped color (I helped clean up the coloring and added a unicorn horn). Some foam tape popped up the unicorn and we were done. It was fun!

This time that I have with my kids is so special. I think it is important to work with them and help them to develop their artistic abilities. If you have moments to share, join us with #getkidscrafty We have a Facebook page and Instagram account.

Get Kids Crafty in December - BLOG HOP

Hello Crafters!

Welcome back to the #GetKidsCrafty blog hop. I am Jeanette Angle from #AcuteStamper. It is starting to finally look a lot like Christmas outside here in Texas.  It is feeling like it too.

It is so much fun for my kids to put up the tree and start decorating. I bought a ornament tag set from My Favorite things for us to use this year. I also got the shaker plastics for the 2-inch circle that fits perfectly in the ornament tags. Then I was silent about this for a few weeks till it was time to mass produce ornaments. HA!

I have 4 kids and I need to be prepared when I offer up die cuts and other art materials to them. I made a huge pile of the ornaments. I purchased 30 of the ornament shaker plastics so that the kids could decorate some for our tree and to send in the mail for family and friends this year.

Most of what was made was scribbled and just a fun Friday night, but then my oldest son Travis wanted to make a camping ornament. We pulled out the Camping with Bear & Bunny stamp set and the Mallow Layers stamp set from Strawberry Jude Stamps: www.strawberryjudestamps.com 🍓

These two sets coordinated perfectly with the December #GetKidsCrafty theme: s’mores. So we lined up everything and started on Travis’ ornament.

We masked with small post-its, so it was in no way perfect. He was able to take the Prismacolor 005 pen and draw in the missing parts of the images.

He moved on to picking out sequins for his shaker plastic. Of course he chose a uniform size and color, I tried to sway him, but like his mother... he is firm in his choices.

With green being the wining color, I moved on to blending out his coloring. I used Distress Ink: Antique Linen with a blending tool. This smoothed our his coloring and we repeated coloring and blending several times until the image was colored to his liking.

He decided to try blending on his own by dipping the blending tool into the Versafine Onyx Black ðŸĪŠ. I took this moment to show him my velroed blending foams on the back of each ink... but, he mentioned that I did not yet have one for Versafine, and now I do 😊.

From here we just assembled, glued and added the NEW twine I ordered last week from www.hemptique.net called Baker’s Twine. I think I need to order all the color options!! 🎁😉🎅🏞

From here we moved on to my ornament. I pulled out another Strawberry Jude Stamps set: Joy to the World.

I love this stamp set. I like to stamp it all over! The Angel Moroni is my favorite. I planned on sending these out for friends and family this Christmas, so I made sure to set up an assembly line in my MISTI. Travis went to hang his ornament on the tree and skipped back over to help me finish mine.

The assembly line process make the finish product look identical and helps to speed up the process. I saved the negative space from one of the cuts and put it in my MISTI. Then I just had to stamp all the parts out.

We moved right along with out a hiccup. It was fun to let him take the lead here since there was little room for error. He was proud of himself!

From there it was similar to Travis’ ornament. Coloring, blending, gluing and adding sequins and twine.

The finished ornaments were great and are now hanging on the tree!

Getting kids involved in projects like making ornaments, cards... the possibilities are endless, these moments help build self esteem and confidence. Two very important values children need. There are many ways to help #getkidscrafty. I hope you find a way to join us in the movement!

Keep hopping along. There are seven of us blogging for #getkidscrafty. Make sure to hop to all of them!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope we have more to share soon!

Happy Birthday Strawberry Jude Stamps!

Hello there,

I thought I would hop on the blog today and tell you all about SJS's Birthversary party. It is quite an event. Each year SJS has had a bash in their Facebook Fan Club. It is a week long event including the best sale prices of the year, 5 giveaways and a FREE Birthday Digi for e-mail subscribers. It is so fun.

Full Disclosure: I am the Lead Enabler for SJS. I do a lot and I am the one giving all the stamps away. :D It is such a fun job to give everything away.

The Birthday Digi is a fun line up of SJS images. I made three different cards. with it. There are more pictures of the cards on my Instagram and Facebook Page.

This digi was super fun to play with. There are 2 images on each PDF. I used some and so did my kids. They each made a card too. Their cards were given to Travis for his birthday. Happy *late* Birthday Travis!

So since I am out of Birthday cards, it is time to start up my stash again. Are birthday cards a big hit in your family? They certainly are in mine. So for my card today I went dragon themed.

Crafty Supplies:
-Neenah Black Cardstock
-Distress Oxide Ink: Iced Spruce
-Hero Arts Dots stencil
-Rainbows and Roses SJS Set
-Dragons and Jewels SJS Set
-Shimmer Spritz Frost
-Glossy Accents
-Prismacolor Premier Pencils
-Distress Ink: Picked Raspberry
-Versafine Onyx Black Ink

I enjoy making my own backgrounds. Believe it or not. I start all my cards with a white piece of cardstock. I stamped the dragon with versa fine and cut her out with my Scan N Cut 2. I adore my SNC2 and I don't think I would enjoy card making as much as I do without it. Then I colored my dragon with my pencils and added glossy accents. Then I set that aside and moved on to the card base. Started by coating it in black versa fine ink, then laying down my stencil and blending in Iced Spruce Distress Oxide. I let that dry and then coated the entire card in Iced Spruce to tone down the dots.

I let that dry and then went down the card panel with my Happy Birthday stamp from Rainbows and Roses SJS set. It was fun and easy. I then took the sparkles and added them randomly to the sides of the card panel. I made my own banner from a strip of paper coated in more Iced Spruce and stamped Happy birthday in Distress Ink Picked Raspberry. Finally I took that Picked Raspberry and rubbed it on my card base for a perfect match on the base.

I glossied everything... because a card is never complete without Glossy Accents.

There is still a $50 giveaway to enter today on the SJS Fan Club, GO ENTER (ends 10PM 11/17/17)!! Goodluck! Oh and the sale on www.strawberryjudestamps.com ends on Sunday 11/19/17. Remember to add "Berry Birthday" in the notes of your order to receive the Berry Birthday SJS set for FREE!

I hope you enjoyed & Happy Stamping,

Get Kids Crafty in November - BLOG HOP

Hello Friends,

I am Jeanette. I am new to the blogging world, but not new to stamping. I am the Lead Enabler (aka Design Team Coordinator/VP) of Strawberry Jude Stamps.  I have become enthralled with adhesive, die cutting, embellishments, inks, papers, pencils, pens, planners, stamps, stencils... ect. It started as a hobby and escalated to an obsession.

With that obsession comes my children's interests in mommy's stamping stuff. I have 4 kids: Travis, Caleb, Emalee, and Leah. They do keep me busy! I love my kids and I love getting them involved in craft time. I was approached by one of my Design Team Members, for Strawberry Jude Stamps: Marcia, about #getkidscrafty and I hopped right on board.  November is Leaf month!

Emalee and I had this project in mind for the leaves:

Step 1: Emalee gathered leaves. This was super fun! She had hundreds to choose from, but for some reason only these particular ones were chosen.

Step 2: We chose a few Distress Oxide colors to watercolor the leaves with. We used: Seedless Preserves, Cracked Pistachio, and Worn Lipstick. I added some glycerin to make the oxides thicker and easier for Emalee to work with. The leaves held color really well, although they never did dry.

Step 3: Press them into card stock using a die cutting machine. We had the newest addition to the craft room. The Big Shot!

Step 4: THE FUN PART, card assembly, Glossy Accents Shimmer Spritz and Washi! We used our SUPER loves Misti and stamped all of the Strawberry Jude Stamps sentiments we had picked out.

Her final cards were fabulous! She dictated all the placements and color choices. She even spritzed them herself! It was fun to see her sense of accomplishment. I can't wait to share her next project with you.
